Job Description

Our client currently has a unique opportunity for a results-oriented Head of Regional Human Resources to assume responsibility in providing effective leadership for the U.S. and Latin America. In this key role you will ensure that the right workforce capability, organizational culture and employee engagement is in place to achieve business goals. The incumbent will be responsible to build an effective regional team and develop this organization into a best-in-class employer within the region. If you are adept at proactively partnering with relevant stakeholders across all levels (e.g., global HR business partners, global CoEs, employee representative bodies) to ensure that targets are achieved efficiently and in line with company-wide HR values and standards, then this may be the role for you.

This position will be mainly remote, but will required to come into the office on Long Island twice per month. After team has been built, come into the Long Island office once per month.



main Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Provide leadership, motivation, and direction for regional HR organization and drive implementation of newly established HR roles and responsibilities
  • Act as interface between global and local HR: act as “advocate” of regional perspective, report to Head of HR on key regional initiatives, and develop regional initiatives in alignment with global Centers of Expertise (as functional experts) and Divisional HR Business Partners (as interface to business)
  • Drive the regional implementation of M&A activities
  • Network with Heads of other Regions, share best-practices, and align on inter-regional matters
  • Recruit HR Managers and Specialists for respective region, and supervise and coordinate local HR recruiting initiatives at regional level
  • Act as first touch point for regional leadership/MDs and be available as point of escalation for issues arising within HR, and also as the interface to business
  • Ensure implementation of global guidelines, policies, and processes in line with regional business needs; drive, coordinate and supervise projects in respective region and provide feedback to global roles about practicability and experience
  • Prioritize regional initiatives, ensure budget availability, and assign resources accordingly
  • Drive regional bundling of HR Admin activities to use synergies and improve HR process efficiency

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills, ability to take decisions in a timely and accountable manner
  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 10 years' work experience in a medium-sized, international company, to include at least 3 years in a cross-country management position within the HR organization
  • At least 5 years' work experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences industry is strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of HR topics such as Employer Branding, Attraction of Talent, and People and Org. Development
  • Experience with change management and the ability to adapt quickly and work efficiently in an international business culture, within a complex matrix organization
  • Organized, a self-starter, strategic thinker with the ability to translate ideas into actionable initiatives
  • Ability to influence, convince and motivate, strong, empathetic communication skills
  • Conceptually strong while pragmatic and results-oriented, able to perform hands-on change activities
  • High level of user/customer orientation
  • Intercultural skills with willingness to travel internationally
